Arthur L. Van Vleck diary, 1862-1863.

A contemporary handwritten transcription of a "diary" (actually, an account in installments) of Van Vleck, a soldier with the 126th Ohio Infantry serving chiefly in West Virginia and Maryland near Harpers Ferry, ca. October 1862-July 1863. The account was sent by Van Vleck to his aunt and then transcribed by "sister Lou." It describes camp life, marches, and fighting, in some detail, and is particularly concerned with prayer and worship.
